Research Notes

Not shown a son of Richard Leach. A prior version of this profile reported this Samuel Leach, born Salem, 1655, died Salem 1732, was the son of Richard Leach (bef.1619-bef.1687) and his wife, Sarah (Fuller) Leach (aft.1622-abt.1687), citing "Ancestry.com." This association was challenged by WikiTree collaborators; it was severed in 2023.

If there are no objections, I plan to sever the link from Samuel Leach to these parents, Richard Leach (bef.1619-bef.1687) and Sarah (Fuller) Leach (aft.1622-abt.1687).--Gene

I am quickly exhausting available resources to support that a Samuel Leach 1655-1732 existed. Richard Leach, the now linked father, left a will. He names no son Samuel.
  • Have reviewed the Salem vital records. Found no birth or baptism recorded there for a Samuel in 1655 or thereabouts. Likewise, find no death or burial recorded Salem 1732.
  • The earliest Samuel birth at Salem I located was the son of John and Elizabeth (Flint) Leach, 28 April 1677. His profile is Samuel Flint Leach (1677-1732).

Edited to add: Have added research note boxes to this conflicted profile.

Hoping to learn a reliable source for his link to parents.

Perhaps you will have better luck. I did not find such a son mentioned in the Richard Leach 1685 will, "Suffolk County (Massachusetts) probate records, 1636-1899," 10:153-155; digital images, FamilySearch, FSL film 584130, digital collection (DGS) 7703073, images 89-90; dated "this Seaventeenth of Jun : One Thousand Six Hundred Eighty and five."
