Albert Leavitt was born about Jan 1862, according to the 1900 US Census or in 1863, according to his gravestone. He was the son of Amos Leavitt and Rebecca Pollard.

The 1870 US census for New Vineyard, Franklin County, Maine lists residents as Amos Levett [sic] (43), a farmer, Rebecca A Levett [sic] (42), Edger [sic] Levett [sic] (19), a teacher, Mary E Levett [sic] (17), a student, Morris Levett [sic] (15), a student, Arther [sic] Levett [sic] (12), a student, and Albert Levett [sic] (8), a student. Amos owns real estate valued at $2000 and has a personal estate of $800.

The 1880 US census for San Joaquin Judicial Township, Sacramento County, California conducted on 29 July 1880 lists the residents of a home as head of household Maurice Leavitt (25), born in Maine, a farmer, wife Almira Leavitt (20), born in California, keeping house, son Albert Leavitt (2 months), born in California, at home, partner Fletcher Lambert (25), born in Maine, a farmer, boarder Arthur Leavitt (22), born in Maine, a farm laborer, boarder Albert Leavitt (18), born in Maine, a farm laborer, and boarder Frank Billington (22), born in Maine, a farm laborer. NOTE: In addition to being boarders, Albert and Arthur Leavitt are younger brothers of Maurice.

The 1930 US census for New Vineyard, Franklin County, Maine lists the residents of a farm located on the Strong Road and owned by head of household Albert Leavitt (68), a farmer, his wife Laura Leavitt (62), son Ransom Leavitt (38), single, a farm laborer, and lodger and hired man William Brown (40), single, a farm laborer. All were born in Maine.

The 1940 US census for Augusta, Maine shows that Albert T Leavitt, age 78, a resident of New Vineyard, Maine in 1935, is a patient at the Augusta State Hospital for Mental Diseases located on Arsenal Street.

sources below show that Albert Leavitt signed as father for Albert Hasting Doyen. This jives with family whispers that he might have been born out of wedlock, though he carried his mothers last name and was raised in her family (Doyen) family. Albert Leavitt DID NOT MARRY Nora Doyen, as far and I can find. He simply signed as father on the wedding permit of Albert Hastings Doyen. See cite below.
