Biography

He was born about 1724 and his parents were Susan (Pierce) and William Ledford.

Fred Tanner Remembers (from Ancestry.com family stories)

"My earliest known great grandfather on my mother's side of the family was William Ledford. William was born in 1686 in Lancaster, Northern England. He was born into a family that farmed land lying next to the Irish Sea near the Scottish Border. The land was poor so his three sons and one being my great grandfather (William B. Ledford Sr.) decided to go to America. Henry was the eldest at age 18, William 16 and John 14. They would sail with Sea Captain James Patton on the Ship Walpoole to Virginia in 1738."

John Ledford married about 1740 to 1744 in Augusta County, Virginia to Lucy Thompson.

He passed away on 02 Jun 1796 in Randolph, Davidson County, North Carolina, USA.

It is very rare for parents to give the same given name to more than one child that lived to be full adulthood. Yet this profile has some duplicates. Can you please review these and resolve the different dates attached to them. Thank you
