Note
James Sidney Ledford was the youngest child of Joseph and Jane Smith Ledford. He married Frances Wooten Barnett 10/20/1856 in Stewart Co., TN. He and his family lived with his mother at the old Ledford homeplace which is now on Ft. Campbell (site #109). He received a call to jury duty in Cadiz in 1869 and the creek he had to cross was overflowing its banks due to recent rain. He and his horse got sopping wet yet he went on to serve on the jury. That evening he stopped at a house just before crossing back over the creek and slept in an unheated area. After he got home, he came down with pneumonia and died. He left his widow with 5 children and one posthumous child born 3 days after his death. He was buried in the family cemetery but his grave was moved to Hopkinsville when the government took over his land for Ft. Campbell. See his Memorial in the original cemetery:# 26667342
