Clois was born on 20 July 1896 in Hickman, KY. She was the daughter of Thomas Andrew Ledford and Pearl (Bryant) Ledford.

- Clois was the daughter of Thomas Andrew and Pearl Bryant Ledford. She married Rosco Stone. They had one child. When the child was 17 months old, Clois had the flu which went into pneumonia.
