DEATHS
SIMMS - on May 31st 1903 at Ellerslie, Annie the beloved wife of William Simms, and dearly beloved daughter of Margaret and the late Thomas Leech of Katikati; aged 33 . Internment at Waihi to-day (Wednesday).
New Zealand Herald 3 June 1903 Page 3 [2]
GENERAL regret is felt in Waihi at the death in Auckland on Sunday last of the wife of Mr. Wm. Andrew Simms, formerly of Waihi.
Deceased was a daughter of Thomas Leech of Katikati, one of Mr. G. V. Stewart's first party of special settlers who arrived in Auckland by the Carisbrooke Castle in 1875 and landed in Tauranga in September of that year.
She was married to Mr. William Andrew Simms, the only son of Mr. Robert Simms architect, then of Katikati and now of Waihi some 11 years ago; and leaves a family of four surviving children to mourn their loss.
Her father and one of her sons are interred in the Waihi Cemetery, and her dying request was that she should be buried with them, a request which her sorrowing husband and relatives are carrying out.
