Mary Ann Leffler/Laufler Reed, wife of Thomas Reed, came to Dayton, Wash., after her husband's death on March 16, 1904, Elk City, Montgomery County, Kansas. She was escorted to the West by her son-in-law, Daniel Brunton, husband of Mary Ann's daughter, Susan Ann. Another daughter, Indiana Reed, married Daniel's brother - James Winfield Brunton -- and lived in Milton-Freewater, Umatilla Co., Oregon, about 40 miles from Dayton. Their other children were George Reed and Margaret Ellen "Maggie" Reed, who married John Wesley Brown in Kansas. Mary Ann is buried in the first space of the Scoggin-Brunton family plot in the cemetery, near her daughter Susan, son-in-law Daniel, and some of her grandchildren. - Deanna Partlow Added: Mar. 25, 2012
