Hi MIndy,

In the publication:- Cassandra Brydges, Duchess of Chandos, 1670-1735: Life and Letters we have clearly set out the dates for Theopolis and family

it This clearly shows that Anne was born in his later life! So we need to look carefully at her mothers dates, however i have been unable to find anything on Joanna Pury so am at a loss. However it is clear that if we take her sons date as beyond reproach then it is fair to say that Joanna must have been born at least 20 years before her son, therefore I suggest that we use an estimate of 1623, what do you think? A Chronology of Jane Austen and Her Family: 1700-2000 has quite clearly set out the birh dates of both the Theopilus and therefore we need to look at her mothers date.

Theophilus was born three years after his mother, Theophilus' daughter Anne was born when he was about sixty. Can his birth estimate be adjusted? Let me know if I can help.
