He married Jane Brereton in October 1570^[1]

John Leighe, esq, resident of The Boothe,^[2] was the father of:

1. Thomas Leighe, baptised on 18 March, 1580, at Wilmslow St Bartholomew's, Cheshire;^[2]
2. John Leighe, son of John Leighe, esq, baptised on 18 August, 1583, at Knutsford St John the Baptist, Cheshire;^[3]
3. Petter Leighe, son of John Leighe, esq, baptised on 9 September, 1584, at Knutsford St John the Baptist, Cheshire;^[4]
4. Elizabeth Leghe, daughter of John Leghe, esq, baptised on 15 March, 1586, at Knutsford St John the Baptist, Cheshire;^[5]
5. Francis Leghe, child of John Leghe, esq, baptised on 13 January, 1588, at Knutsford St John the Baptist, Cheshire;^[6]

He passed away in 1617 and was buried at Lymm.^[8]

A John Leigh was buried on 14 September, 1617, at Lymm St Mary's, Cheshire.^[9] However, John Leigh, esq, resident of Norburie Booths, was buried on 11 February, 1618, at Knutsford St John the Baptist's.^[10] Perhaps this is his burial record as old style dates were used in the register at that time, ie, the new year didn't start until 25 March.
