Patrick was born about 1734 the son of Alexander Leighton and Margaret (Vannatt) Leighton, and he was christened on the 21st July 1734 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland. He was named as Patrick Lighton, the son of Alxr Lighton and Margt Vannatt.[1]
