Biography

Nathan is the child of Benjamin Leighton and Sally Brown. [1]

A contributor of first hand knowledge to Jessie Hogles' Journal. His primary contribution was on the Leighton's Names. His Brother's and Sisters, Uncles & Aunts, Grand Parents, and what He could remember about his Ancestors. Like his Grandpa was Solomon, and before that their were 3 Thomas's and a date 1634.

(Note: I have Solomon Leighton attached to John as there is a Gedcom out there for years showing that. But this is direct physical evidence showing that there is an issue with the 3 Thomas's in a row, that's hard to miss.)

This might have been what stimulated my great grand mothers desire to keep a family journal in the first place. I've attached as a personal photo the original notes started in I believe Nate's hand; with the 3 Thomas, and then there seems to be a handwriting change starting with Solomon.

Nevertheless, it's an old document listing I believe of that original interview.

Also, if you like me look at the first name Thomas Leighton 1633, I took it as a birthdate. But you know what I think that is? That's the year they came to America....a date you would not forget if you were Nate. Lost to me.

Please note: on the Children. I am adding handwritten information from my Great Grand Mothers Journal. She went through this 'find the Leighton exercise' back in the late 1880's to 1920's. She did not have the internet back then, but she was in correspondence with relatives in this Lieghton Branch. Her notes on this are scattered throughout her journal, as I run into facts she discovered I will put them into this branch.

And Nate Says, "We removed with father to the State of New York, and settled in Wayne County; coming to that place in a one-horse vehicle, changing from wheel to sleigh, and sleigh to wheel as the going permitted. I was the oldest of five children."

So I ask humbly if you think you have relevant info or an ancestor here ask first please before making any changes to her information obtained first hand.

I'm sorry about the size of the personal photo, but I'm trying to preserve a historical document, and that requires massive detail & resolution.
