Hans was born in 1725. Hans (Jorick/Jerick) George Leitner ... He passed away in 1814. Married Catherine Zweicord in Lexington c. 1856. Settles 2 October 1862 in Columbia, SC - Memorial Grant,, Columbia, SC tea grower on Little River, near Brad R (Richland CO) Carmier District, Muphy's FOrd - Now Ashley Bridge.[1]
He had 14 children. 7 with his first wife Catherine and 7 with second Barbara (who may have been a cousin as her maiden name was also Leitner).

Leitner family documents have John George Leitner (1725-1814) married to Catherine Swygert (1727-1767/77) then married to Barbara Leitner (1755-1832). John George was the son of Lowhardt Leitner (1697-1768) and Sabina Probst sic) (1688-1769) - noting Sabina was a widow in 1723 so her maiden name might have been different. There is a Leonard & Lavinia Leitner referenced here as well but it is unclear who they are or how they are related.

George had his right leg shot off during the Snow Campaign of 1775 one of the first major military operations of the Revolutionary War. "John George Leitner who served in the Snow Campaign at or nr. 96 S.C. Lived in Richland Co. or Camden Dist. S.C. [3] A Michael Leitner is listed as serving at the Snow Campaign and later became a Captain with the Little River District Regiment 1779-1780, 1st Spartan Regiment, 1780-1781.[4]
Claude C. Leitner autobiographical notes (see image "page 7" attached) describe John George's life and emigration to America from Germany.
Ancestry.com family tree says death was 1813 (3 Feb) Age: 88 in Richand County South Carolina Near Ashley Bridge on the Monticello Rd.
