Lemmons served as a private in Company D, 4 Reg't Mississippi Cavalry. He joined for duty and enrolled in Port Gibson, Mississippi on 29 Aug 1863 when he was about 37 years of age. He was a resident of Rocky Springs, Claiborne County, Mississippi. He surrendered at Citronelle, Alabama, 4 May 1865, and was paroled at Jackson, Mississippi on 13 May 1865. ^[2]
