Reverend Harold John Dorien Lemon died at the Premier Hotel, Russell Square, London, England on 7 April 1955.[4] The coroner's court recorded a verdict of suicide. Newspaper reports recorded that he was found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning with a glass in his hand and a bottle of congac at his side. He had visited his solicitor to make his will the previous day. His widow told the court He had upset me and was distressed to see me unhappy. We were not cross with each other. There were no reproaches. We were both unhappy.[5]
