James (Leslie) Leslie Master of Rothes is a member of Clan Leslie.
James, Master of Leslie, was the eldest son of Andrew Leslie, 5th Earl of Rothes by his first wife, Grizel Hamilton whom he married in 1548[1]
Research note
- no birth date has been found for James Leslie so it has been set to "after 1548" as 1548 was the date of his parents' marriage and James was their eldest child Templeton-1883 13:08, 12 December 2017 (EST)
James married Margaret Lindsay, daughter of Patrick 6th Lord Lindsay of the Byres on 21 February 1574 (Old Style date)[1]. Margaret died on or before 1594 when James married Catherine Drummond, daughter of Patrick 3rd Lord Drummond.[1]

Hi Mitch, Catherine Drummond and Katherine (Drummond) Leslie both appear in this profile as the wife of James Leslie. Drummond-836 and Drummond-858 should therefore be merged. Drummond-836 includes the mother's name, which should be part of the merge I believe. Eric
