Note: This profile previously gave his parents as John Leslie, 6th earl of Rothes and Anne Erskine. This can be found online but is incorrect.[1] John Leslie did not have a son James.[2][3] He had an only son and heir John who is well attested to in primary records.

John Leslie, 6th earl of Rothes did not have a son James. He had 1 son and heir John and 2 daughters Mary and Margaret. See DNB and CP XI:198.
