Christopher Lester was born 10 Sep 1763 at Groton, Connecticut [1]. He was a son of Margaret (Avery) Lester (1739-1771) and David Lester (1736-abt.1776).
As his father died when he was age 12, and his mother had previously died, the court assigned William Avery (1724-1787) (his maternal uncle) to be his guardian.
American Revolutionary War service: Christopher Lester was a Revolutionary War soldier; was taken prisoner by the British and held aboard the prison ship Jersey.
