In the Essex County records there are two entries which proved that Zachary Lewis had a sister who came to Virginia named Sarah, who married Francis Shackelford of South Farnham Parish, where he resided in 1707.
“The family records of the Lewises state that Zachary Lewis married Mary Walker, daughter of Col. Thomas Walker of Gloucester County, settled and died in King and Queen County. John Waller and Dorothy King his wife of Spotsylvania County. The second son, John Lewis, was born in 1704 at the Lewis home on the Dragon. He married Sarah, daughter of Abraham Iverson of Gloucester County, about 1726.” [2]
