Biography

David Lewis Jr was born December 14, 1694, in Piccawaxen, Charles, Maryland a son of parents David and Jane Lewis. [1] On January 17, 1719, David married Mary Crawford Children of David Lewis & Mary Crawford are:

David Lewis, Jr. wrote his Will on October 6, 1773 was probated November 11, 1773, in Carteret County, North Carolina. Fourteen pages are available to review on FamilySearch.org. [2]

  • Devisees and legatees: John Shepard ("plantation whereon I now dwell known by the name of Indian Town"), William Shepard (plantation known as Glover's Hammock), David Shepard, John Simmons, Daniel, James and Benjamin Simmons, Richard Shepard. One hundred pounds is bequeathed toward building a church in Beaufort. Wife and Executrix: Mary.

David is buried in the Old Burying Ground, on Ann Street, in Beaufort, Cateret County, North Carolina. [3]

He passed away in 1773. [4]

  • Fielding Lewis Sr. b: 1768 in Va, d: 1852 in Sandlick, Tn, son of David Lewis, b. 1725, and Mary Gambill (Gamble) - b: 1773 in Culpepper Co. Va were parents of Elizabeth Lewis, b. 1793.
  • Elizabeth Lewis b: abt 1793 in Whitley, Ky, daughter of Fielding Lewis, Sr; m: 1838 Elijah Harp, were parents of Elizabeth Harp, Talitha Harp b: abt. 1842" is completly wrong, this david is not related to fielding lewis, the link listed is dead. This David is in no way related to fielding lewis. not even close!

According to the following web site, Early Colonial Settlers of Southern Maryland and Virginia's Northern Neck Counties, David's parents are David Lewis and Jane Unknown.
