Biography
Philomena Lewis was born about 1859 in Hamilton County, Illinois. She is the daughter of James Lewis and Eliza Johnson. Marriage information, date and place of death are unknown. She is listed with her family on the 1870 census in Barry County, Missouri, but not in 1880. She may have married in Missouri.

- They are living next door to Nancy Cantrell, widow of Isaac Cantrell and her children Catherine and Tilmon. Catherine will become James' second wife.

- Catherine has married James D. Lewis as second wife. In their household are children from James' first marriage: Elizabeth, Philly Ann, Constant, and Lethe. Thomas, Mary and Finetta are children of James and Catherine.
