  • Fact: Also Known As Charles Lewis the Planter
  • Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch Book, Abstracts of The wills of the State of South Carolina, 1670-1740, Volume 1, Compiled and Edited by Caroline T. Moore and Agatha Aimar Simmons, reads:

Charles Lewis, Christ Church parish, Berkeley County, planter. Wife: Elizabeth Mary. sons: Charles, Daniel, Elias, and Thomas. Daus: Sharlot, Lydia, and Mary. Exors: wife; son-in-law Robert Armstrong, Henry Lewis, William Lewis Jr. Died 25 Jan 1729/30. Probate 14 July 1732, R: 26 Sept. 1732 p. 432.

It is possible that Charles Lewis was a sea captain: The Register for Christ Church Parish burial record as printed in the The South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine, Vol. 20, No. 2, p.126 lists Charles Lewis as Captain Charles Lewis. This supports the opinion expressed in "Beatys of Kingston".
