Biography

N.B. I am removing James Taylor III (Taylor-5003) and Alice Thornton Taylor as the parents of Charity Taylor Prickett Jolliffe as I know of NO primary sources or reliable secondary accounts as evidence that they WERE her parents and there is some evidence that they were NOT. (Patricia Prickett Hickin, 30 April 2018).
Also, the parents of Charity Taylor Prickett Jolliffe are frequently given as this James Taylor (Taylor-5003) and Elizabeth McGrath Lewis Taylor (Lewis-12901), but I have never seen an original source for either. Also Elizabeth died six years before Charity was born. PPH, 20150411.
Elizabeth was born about 1703 in Virginia, the third of four known children and the second of three daughters of John Zachary and Mary Walker Lewis.
On 4 March 1724 she married James Taylor III in Rapidan, Orange County, Virginia, and they had one known child, a daughter whom they named Elizabeth.
However, Betty Smith Meischen, quoting from a GenForum post, says “Elizabeth [McGrath Lewis] and James Taylor had no children together.”[1]
Elizabeth died about 1733 in Spotsylvania, Spotsylvania County, Virginia.

Historical Southern Families Vol VII copyrighted 1963 states that Elizabeth McGrath was the widow of John LEWIS, Jr. Also, probable sister of Mary (McGrath) HART LEWIS who married David LEWIS, brother of John Lewis, Jr.
