Biography

the information below is incorrect, the will of Charles Lewis lists his children and there is no Mary Lewis listed. disregard the bio listed below.

UNCONFIRMED AS THERE IS NO MARY LISTED IN THE WILL OF CHARLES LEWIS

Mary was born in 1736. Mary Lewis ... [1] William Allen Sr was born 1725 in Goochland County Virginia and died in Surry County, North Carolina. He married Mary Lewis who was born September 25, 1736 in Campbell County,Virginia. Mary (Lewis) Allen after William Allen's death married John Bailey before her death in Lunenburg County,Virginia.

Research Notes

Profile needs work Birth year suppose to be 1725? married in 1744 Mary would have only been 8-12 years old if born 1732-1736 per info. provided 1st child Martha attached was b. 1740 BEFORE marriage? ~ Sonia (Nance) Roberts

This Mary is not the dau. of Robert Lewis and Jane Meriwether. - as their daughter Mary was born at least 10 years later (aft. 1745}. This Mary is not the dau. of Charles Lewis and Mary Howell - Per book - Lewis of Warner Hall: The History of a Family, Including the Genealogy of Descendants in Both the Male and Female Lines, Biographical Sketches of Its Members, and Their Descent from Other Early Virginia Families by Merrow Egerton Sorley, there were 2 daughters named Mary born to Charles and Mary Howell Lewis, and both died by the age of 4 (pgs. 443 & 511), so Mary Lewis who married William Allen could not be their daughter.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:

There was no Campbell Co Virginia in 1732 or 1736.

Lewis-35852 and Lewis-14575 appear to represent the same person because: They are the same people, married to the same person.

Hi! I detached Lewis-683 as father, and "divorced" him from Howell-3384, but kept her attached as mother so that the siblings could stay connected through her.

Cheers, Liz

PS - Mary may be the name of their mother, but most likely not Howell (Mary Howell was Charles' wife and mother of a different Mary who did not marry an Allen).
