[Note: This Thomas Lewis is not to be confused with another Thomas Lewis born around the same time who married Sarah Bassett. These two Thomas/es are often conflated in other places (including U.S., Find A Grave biographical information) and in others' Trees because both these Thomas/es appear to have been born same year same location, this Thomas remaining within the vicinity of Barnstable while the other removed to Connecticut. ]

I found the 1718 probate record, Thomas of Eastham, names wife Jane, and her 1720 probate record - Jane widow of Thomas of Eaastmam, has to be the same man. I would be inclined to believe the recorded Barnstable VR as the dob. Gravestones are carved with whatever the informant tells the carver.

If the gravestone inscription is correct when it says he was 64 when he died in 1718, he had to have been born in 1653 or 1654. But, the records show a Thomas Lewis born 15th July 1656. Usually we can let slide a few years, but these dates seem too specific to ignore.
