Biography

Elmer was born in 1912. Elmer Lewis, who passed away in 1986 and is interred in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA. ^[1]

RESEARCH NOTES:

• Elmer's obituary says he was born in La Jose, Clearfield County, PA, but that's in Burnside Twp, Clearfield Co, where his mother is from (it's proper name is "Newberg"). She moved to Indiana Co, PA when she got married, and that's where Elmer was born. Note that Elmer's WWII draft registration says he was born in "Arcada", which is a misspelling of "Arcadia", which is in Montgomery Twp.
• His birth certificate has him as "James Elmer", but clearly he used his middle name, and it got switched around to "Elmer James".
• Elmer's headstone says he died 07AUG1986, but the official record, and his obituary, agree that it was actually 08AUG1986. It also says that he was born 12APR1912, when his birth certificate and obituary say 18APR1912.
• Elmer's obituary says he died "at his home", which it says was at "6468 Highland Rd., Mayfield Village, Ohio", but the official record says he died two municipalities to the west, at Richmond Heights. Probably, either the address does not reflect the exact municipality (but only tells you the post office), or he wasn't officially pronounced dead until he was at a hospital in Richmond Heights.
