Biography

Nancy was born in 1760. She became the third wife of James Overstreet in July 1783 and accompanied him and his thirteen children from Hanover Co, Virginia to what became Jessamine Co, KY in1790. The year of the immigration to KY is from a letter written by one of James' grandchildren, Robert Edward Overstreet. A transcript of the letter was posted on the Overstreet Rootsweb list. He did appearon the Fayette County Tax List of 1791. [1] When James died without a will in 1817, Nancy relinquished her rights as adminstrator of the estate in favor of Gabriel and Thomas Overstreet.[2]The settlement of James' estate apparently took 15 years, since the final inventory and acccounting was registered in the May term of 1832. [3]She passed away in 1832.

More to come.

Confused - the Nancy who married James Overstreet had children with him after their marriage in 1783 from 1784-1804. James died intestate and the court documents from the estate settlement show Nancy as unmarried throughout the process that finished sometime in 1718.

According to Scott Swanson, she was living with her son and my 3ggrandfather Robert D Overstreet and died in October 1832.

I don't think that the VA records for Nancy Overfield Lewis relate to the woman who married James O.
