Research Notes
Have not been able to find Nicholas and family on the 1851 Canada Census.
This is a bit of a reach but the 1851 Census has a record of a James and Catherine Lewis at about the right ages, are they using middle names? He is Methodist born in LaColle which is Quebec area, she is Roman Catholic born in Ireland. They have two kids about the right age, Sarah (Elizabeth?) and William (William Thomas?).
Keep in mind the ages on this census is "Next Birthday" and I don't have a confirmed birth date for either child. We also don't know much about Nicholas or where exactly he was born.
