Joe was born in Monroe County, Mississippi.[1] on 04 Mar 1881, died 03 Jun 1962 and is buried in Boon's Chapel Cemetery, Chickasaw County, Mississippi.[2] The son of William & Emily Lewis,[3] he was married about 1910 to Rena Jolly.[1][4]
Rites Held for Joe Ira Lewis
Services were held at Boone's Chapel Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon for Joe Ira Lewis, retired farmer, of near Egypt.
The rites were conducted by the Rev. T. A. Cook and the Rev. Clayton Criddle. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Lewis, who was 81, died at 4:30 Sunday afternoon at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Lewis leaves his wife, Mrs. Rena Jolly Lewis;three daughters, Mrs. Lourienia Kilgo, Mrs. Loradell Cruse and Miss Sadie Lewis all of Okolona; 24 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.[5]
