Arthur's father died in Morgan Co, AL about 1825. After his death Arthur's uncle Nicholas Lewis[3] became guardian for Arthur and his brother Daniel O. Lewis, 24 Nov 1827.[4]
Arthur and his brother Daniel were raised by his sister Sarah and her husband Whitfield Rodgers.
On the 6 Nov 1835 Arthur M. Lewis was now of legal age. He no longer needed a guardian and was able to take legal possession of his inheritance.[5]

Legal Matters
In 1843 Arthur had some sort of legal trouble with the bank in Madison County for which his brother helped him with fees for defense.[13]
In August of 1853 Arthur M. Lewis is made administrator of his father-in-law, Green B. Chaney's, estate.[14]
Uncle's Death - Arthur's uncle Nicholas died 10 Aug 1856[15] and he became executor for his estate.[16][17]
Death
Arthur M. Lewis died in 1860. The Lewis family was Episcopal and their burial ground is located next to the family house in Jefferson, Marengo Co., Alabama. His will was written 15 Nov 1860.[18] Inventory of his estate was extensive.[19]
Arthur M. Lewis was buried in the Lewis family cemetery. His headstone reads Arthur M. Lewis died November 26, 1860: aged 48 years and 14 days.[1]

As I do the math on the headstone it seems that his birth date on this Find a Grave listing is incorrect, it should read 12 Nov 1812.
