Brother's Death - When Hardin Lewis died about 1825 his brother Nicholas[1] Lewis became administrator of the estate and became guardian for his nephews.[2][3]
Guardian - Appointed guardian of brother Meriwether Lewis and Daniel O. Lewis[4][5] Although he was guardian, receipts show that the boys were actually housed with their sister Sarah and brother-in-law Whitfield Rodgers.[6]
1840 Census - Nicholas Lewis is found on the 1840 census in Sumter Co, AL.[7]
1850 Census - Nicholas was living in Morgan Co, AL[8]
Death - Nicholas Lewis died 10 Aug 1856 according to court paperwork assigning nephew, Arthur M. Lewis, as Executor.[9]
Blankenstein genealogy tells that Nicholas was a brother of Harding and Arthur M. Lewis uncle.
