Biography

The second son of Rowland Lewis and Anne Fagan, he was born in Utica, New York and moved with his older brother John and sister Julia to Mankato, Minnesota. The family had moved to a farm in Tarrant County, Texas by 1880, where his occupation was well-digger. He married Dora Benning first, then Rebecca Vera Flautt. He and Rebecca had 7 children: Rowland Ecelon Lewis Jr Vera Flautt Lewis Varna Beall Lewis John Robert Lewis II Velma Daffodil Lewis Vellene Guyna Lewis William Franklin Lewis By 1899, the family had moved to Weatherford, Texas where his parents lived and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1900. He and Rebecca moved back to Fort Worth, where he died in 1939. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Fort Worth.
