"Mrs. G.W. Lowry Died Saturday at Home In this city - Mrs. G.W. Lowry, age 80 years, 9 months, and one week, passed away at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at her home at 109 E. Weatherford street, following a long illness. Mrs. Lowry was born on Jan. 14, 1853, in Morgan County, Ky. She was married to G.W. Lowry at West Liberty, Kentucky, on Dec. 9, 1875 and a few years later they moved to Texas and to Parker County in which Mrs. Lowry had been living for 53 years at the time of her death. There are surviving eight children, five daughters and three sons as follows: Mrs. Florence Smart, Fort Worth; Mrs. Emma Howard, Texhoma, Texas; Mrs. Georgia Scherer, Weatherford; Mrs. Llewellyn Stipe, Electra, Texas; Mrs Myrtis Magee, Wichita Falls, H. Lowry and C.C. Lowry, both of Weatherford; and Earl [Irl] Lowry of Paris, Texas. She is also survived by one brohter, A.D. Lewis of Palo Pinto. The funeral services were held from the Christian Chapel, Church of Christ with the pastor, Rev. Paul Southern, officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul Campbell, pastor of the Central Christian Church, at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment took place in the City Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers were as follows: C.A. Waller, C.E. Canafax, Lon Bowden, Paul Camp, E.A. Frantz, and Hugh Long." transcribed from photo copy of obit. It's interesting that her own name, Armilda Jane Lewis, is not mentioned in her obituary.
