Biography

William was the son of Joseph Benjamin Lewis (1763 - 1845) and Sarah Elizabeth MaGee Lewis (1770 - 1828 He married Samantha Clower Lewis (1811 - 1891)[1] , daughter of John Clower (1780 - 1837) and Mary Pleasant Clower (1788 - 1831)

Later the family settled in the Spring Creek Baptist Church area east of Kentwood

  • He was a Private in Capt. Wm. Bickham's Co. in War of 1812.
