Biography

William Jones Lewis was a son of the theologian George Lewis. He was a surgeon.

He married Mary Bunnell in 1823. Their children were Bunnell Lewis and Mary Bunnell Lewis.

In 1827, he married Mary's sister, Elizabeth Bunnell. Their surviving children were William, Samuel, Elizabeth, Jane and Hannah Lewis. Four other children died in infancy.

Research Note

No data have been found regarding the death of Mary (Bunnell) Lerwis. It seems probable that she died and that William Lewis was a widow when he married Elizabeth Bunnell.
