On 20 Jan. 1864 in Richmond, UT, Robert, as he was called, married AMANDA JANE ALLRED, daughter of Isaac and Julia Ann (Taylor) Allred. She was born 16 Nov. 1843 at Hancock Co., Ill. and died at Oxford, Ida. 15 Mar. 1915. He also married CAROLINE HYER, 22 Nov. 1869. There were no children of this second marriage. Robert Lewis officiated as Bishop in Oxford, Ida. for twenty three years. He endured many hardships in the early days of Cache Valley and was forced at times to snare birds and dig segoes to prevent starvation. He was well known and leaves a record of good deeds behind him, always setting an example worthy of emulation. His beautiful home signified his energy and ambition. He died 21 Oct. 1913 in Oxford, Idaho.
