Howell Lewis was born about 1798. He married Martha E. McLain on 21 Feb 1831 in Greenbrier, Virginia. They had three children: Howell M. Lewis (1834); Susan J Lewis (1836); Jonathan R Lewis (1838).
He later married Frances H. Toler Payne on 29 Dec 1849 in Goochland, Virginia.
Howell was a farmer/planter in Goochland County, Virginia.
