John was born about 1620 possibly Southern Ireland. He emigrated to Bermuda about 1662. John Leybourne ... He passed away about 1670. [1]
Early Bermuda records show a John LIBORNE occupying land at Burrow's Point (Norwood's Survey refers to this as "Burgis Point") prior to December 17, 1653, according to a deed sale between Benjamin Downing and John Green, both of Paget Tribe. Downing and his wife, Neptune, sold land to Green in Warwick Tribe, which was land now occupied by John Liborne. (Bermuda Settlers of the 17th Century, Julia Mercer, page 43)
In my research on this fella I have run across a few, undocumented, comments that he changed his name to Lightbourne after migrating to Bermuda. Might help if further research. Gaulden-7 16:18, 17 September 2015 (EDT)
