Biography

Elizabeth (Lichtenstein aka Lightenstone) Johnston was born on May 28, 1764 in Ogeechee, Georgia. She was the daughter of Johann "John" G. Lichtenstein and Catherine (Delegal) Lichtenstein. He married William (Moreton) Morton Johnston on November 21, 1779 in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Together, they were the parents of Andrew Johnston, Lewis Johnston, Catherine Johnston, Elizabeth Wildman (Johnston) Ritchie, Laleah Peyton (Johnston) Almon, John Johnston, and James William Johnston. She passed away on September 24, 1848 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Elizabeth (Lichtenstein aka Lightenstone) Johnston is famous as the author of "Recollections of a Georgia Loyalist", one of the few eye-witnesses of the Loyalist experience in Nova Scotia.
