Biography

Lavinia Light was born between 1775-1785 in New York, daughter of Lazarus Light (~1750 - 1786) and Elizabeth (Langdon) Light (<1751 - <1811).

Her siblings were:

  1. James R. Light (~1769 - ~1853)
  2. Henry Light (1770 - 1823)
  3. John W Light (1770 - ~1844)
  4. Samuel Jackson Light (1773 - 1831)

Lavinia (~19) married John Wallace Bates (~29) (~1775 - ~1843) in 1804 in Virginia. Their children were:

  1. Elizabeth (Bates) Ashurst (1806 - 1881)
  2. James Bates (~1808 - 1866)
  3. Thomas Bates (1809 - 1881).

Lavinia died on 12 Nov 1856 in Macon County, Missouri, USA aged ~71. [1]
