Alice (Lightfoot) Spencer (abt. 1600 - 1679)

This Alice Lightfoot Spencer (Lightfoot-101) is not the daughter of John Lightfoot-138 or John Lightfoot-91 and his wife Anne Goodrich-417. John Lightfoot and Anne Goodrich's daughter Alice Lightfoot-209 was born the 25th of September, 1698, per the parish records of Christ Church, Middlesex county, Virginia. Alice Lightfoot Spencer has a year of birth of about 1600 in England. Anne Goodrich-417 who is the wife of John Lightfoot-91 was born about 1662, so it would be impossible for Anne Goodrich-417 to be the mother of Alice Lightfoot-101 Spencer. Also, there are no sources for Alice Lightfoot-101 Spencer's surname of "Lightfoot". The biography of William Spencer-2006 list a wife named Alice with no maiden surname given.

William Spencer was dead in 1638. So he could not have been married to a woman born in 1650 something. I don't have my notes . I do know that the Lightfoots were not correct on wikitree at one time and there were many duplicates. I am glad that someone is willing to work on them. But the whole line needs done not just one profile to be correct. I tried at one time but... You are correct Brenda , Lynne and I are not talking about the same Alice.

I don't believe that Lynne Sims and Trudy roach are talking about the same Alice Lightfoot. One was born 1580-82 and the other was born 1653.

Thank You for your comment David. I checked 4 different sources that put Alice Lightfoot Spencer's birthdate at 1580- 1582. Her father John Lightfoot's profile is incorrect as to the dates. I'm not working on this set of profiles anymore.

John Lightfoot (Lytefoote) is documented as being born in 1580. His daughter, Alice Lightfoot Spencer is indicated as being born 1582.

after all the data and research I did on this line (and I have more unentered info), I ended up disconnecting Elisha cockerham as the father of William Harrison Cockrum because I don't have documentation that this is the same William Harrison cockrum that is my ancestor. Mine appears to have been born in 1805 and the son of Elisha appears to have been born in 1821. I am still researching the connection through census records, etc. and may eventually have the documentation to reconnect the line. I found a lot of my information in "The History and Genealogy of the cockrum Family in America" by Emmett E. Cockrum, revision 1988. The book has a lot of source information. Tom Green postponed because of info that needs to be combined.

Hi don't understand why this merge has been postponed. The reason given is " the info needs to be combined" being merged would do that. They are the same person. Thank you Trudy
