Robert V. Lilly Hinton Postal Employee Dies

Robert V. Lilly, aged 57 years, widely known resident of Jumping Branch, and for 27 years an employee of the Hinton post office, died late Sunday evening in the Beckley hospital, of a heart ailment.

He suffered a heart attack of such severity about three years ago that he was forced to retire from active service at the post office, but was still able to go about his home and community at least for a good part of time. His condition became critical several days ago, and he was removed to the Beckley Hospital Saturday afternoon.

He was the son of the late Rev. Jim Bench Lilly, a widely known Primitive Baptist Minister of that section, and was a member of the Bluestone Baptist Church, in which he was ordained as a deacon a little more than a year ago.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fay Cox Lilly; three sons, Pvt. Odley E. Lilly, with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific, Robert Earl Lilly and Elbert Lawrence Lilly at home; seven daughters, Mrs. Orla Hedrick of Jumping Branch; Mrs. Paul Hunt of Crab Orchard, Mrs. John C. Swan of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Ray Decker, Mary Frances, Janice and Dixie Lee Lilly at home; five brothers, J. L. B. Lilly of Ellison, Ali W. Lilly of Streeter, J. Willie Lilly of True, J. R. Lilly of Hinton, and Albert Lilly of Judson; five sisters, Mrs. Ada Lilly and Mrs. Thomas Cox of Lerona, Mrs. Kent Lilly and Mrs. Kirk Akers of Mount View, and Mrs. Basil Cox of Judson.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon at 1 a.m. at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, conducted by Rev. Charles Emerson Walker, pastor of the Jumping Branch Baptist church. Burial followed in the Moten Cemetery near Jumping Branch.
