Rev. Joseph was other than being a farmer, he was a famous bear hunter and a
primitive Baptist preacher. "Preacher" Joseph L. Lilly was a primitive Baptist preacher for about 40 years in Dunns, WV. He was a great leader in his community. He was one ofthe first settlers in this area and was a great hunter. He was known to have killed more than 100 bears and many more deer, and several mountain lions. His first wife was a Shrewsbury and he had seven children. With Elizabeth Thompson they had twelve Children.
