Samuel was born 25 April 1818 in Chelsea, Vermont. He first married, in Glover, Vermont, 3 July 1851 Mary Patterson Vance, the daughter of John M.G. and Laura (Patterson) Vance. She was born in Glover, Vermont 13 May 1822 and died in Albany, Vermont 10 July 1860. He married, second, in Newport, Vermont 10 July 1861 Violetta Rebecca Jones, daughter of Ebenezer and Rebecca (Adams) Jones. She was born in Newport, Vermont 17 June 1832.[1]
He was a farmer and resided in Newport, Vermont.
No children by his second wife, Violetta. Children by his wife Mary: Alice, Samuel, and an unnamed daughter.[2]
He died 25 April 1904 in Derby, Orleans, Vermont.[3][4]
