Emily was born 29 June 1836 at Chelsea, Vermont, the daughter of Gurdon Lincoln and Lola Sanderson.[1]
Emily spent her formative years in Vermont with her parents and siblings. Before 1860, the family moved to Sandusky County, Ohio, where Emily met her future husband, Martin McCrillis. They published their intention to marry on December 7, 1865 in Sandusky, so were most likely married soon after this announcement.[2]
The newlyweds soon thereafter moved to Osakis, Minnesota, where Martin operated a farm. They are listed in the 1870 U.S. Census for Osakis[3] and the 1875 Minnesota State Census for Osakis, as well as the 1880 U.S. Census for Osakis.[4]
By the time of the 1900 census, the family, including Martin, Emily and son Lovell, was living in Franklin County, Tennessee, where they had a farm, and where Martin was also working as a carpenter. [5]
Soon after, the family must have moved to Monroeville, Ohio, as Emily died there at the age of 68.[6]
"Funeral service of Mrs. Martin McCrillis were held from her late residence on West Monroe St. Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Mr. Dickey of Norwalk officiated. The remains were placed in the vault at Riverside cemetery awaiting burial."[7]
