Lucilda Lindley was the daughter of Jeremiah Lindley (1769 CT-1841) and Abigail Hall (1775 CT-1861 VT). Lucilda married Alexander Newton in 1826 in Tinmouth, Vermont. They had seven children.[1]

In 1880, the Newtons lived in Clarendon, Vermont. Alex Newton, 76, a farmer, suffered from paralysis on the day the Census was taken. His parents were born in Massachusetts. His wife, Lucilda, was 77. Her parents were born in Connecticut. Alex and Lucilda were both born in Vermont. [6]
Lucilda Lindley Newton, a widow, 79, died of pneumonia on 12 January 1883 in Clarendon, Rutland, Vermont. She was born about 1804 in Tinmouth, Vermont, the daughter of Jeremiah Lindley and Abigail Hall. [7] [8]
Lucilda (Lindley) Newton, 1803-1883, is buried with her husband and a son, Philetus C. Newton, at Clarendon Flats Cemetery, Clarendon, Vermont. Another son, Alexander Jay Newton is buried elsewhere. Lucinda was the daughter of Jeremiah and Abigail (Hall) Lindley. A brother, Jeremiah, who died aged 9-10, is buried at Sawyer Cemetery, Tinmouth, VT; and a sister, Aura T. (Lindley) Brown, is buried in Illinois. [9]
