Mary was a Friend (Quaker)

Eleanor Lindley was born 15 September 1750 in London Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania. [2]. She was the daughter of Thomas and Ruth Lindley.

Eleanor married George Maris 18 April 1770 at the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting, Snow Camp, Alamance County, North Carolina[3].

Between 1771 and 1782 they had seven children together[4] in Orange County, North Carolina:

  1. Ruth,
  2. Susannah,
  3. Aaron,
  4. Thomas,
  5. John,
  6. Catherine
  7. William.

Their births were recorded in the Monthly Minutes of the Cane Creek Meeting.

George died 6 December 1782 in Orange County, North Carolina, aged just 38. He was buried in the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting Cemetery, Snow Camp, Alamance County, North Carolina.[5]

Eleanor only survived her husband by a month, dying on 12 January 1783 and was buried in the same cemetery. [1]
