Biography

In 1850, the Lindley family lived on their farm in Montgomery Township, Jennings, Indiana. All members of the household were born in Indiana. The family included James Lindley, 38, a farmer, with $600 in real estate; his wife, Malissa, 32; their children, all in school, except for the youngest one: Thomas J., 16, a farmer; Sarah, 14; Margaret, 12; Joseph, 10; and Taylor, 2.
