Biography

Estelle Line was born in May of 1853, somewhere in Ohio. Her parents, Abram Line and Delia M Russell, were married in Morrow County, Ohio on 22 Aug 1852, so it is not unlikely that she was born there. Her younger sister Cloris was born in 1856 in Indiana, so the family did not stay put very long. Apparently, birth records were not kept in these counties at this period, so we may never know for sure. By 1860, the family, now including her brother John (1859-1931), were living in Wayne, Kosciusko, Indiana. Estelle’s other siblings, William Richard (1861-1943), Myrtle E (1870-1947), and Martha Belle (b. 1875), were all born in Indiana. By May, 1875, they were all in Fillmore, Fillmore County, Minnesota. She married Eugene Herman Crain on 22 Feb 1876; he had been in Fillmore County since 1857. All of their children (Burton Eugene, Lola Fern, Maude E, Grace, John Russell and Frank Willard, were born in Minnesota. By 1910, the couple had moved to Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. Estelle predeceased her husband on 16 Mar 1920, and is interred in Springfield. Two of her children (Lola Fern and John Russell) died before she did. All of her siblings married. John, William and Myrtle had children; I can find no descendants for Cloris or Martha Belle. Estelle’s brother John apparently tried to start a business manufacturing something called car beds. Line Car Beds was not in existence for very long. Interred Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, Greene, MO
