Alice was born in 1866. [1] In 1890 in Adair County, Missouri, Alice wed James F. Whitacre. [2] Alice was buried Forrest-Llewellyn Cemetery, Kirksville, Adair County, MO.
(Email from Ben Crawford, her great grandson, to Quentin smith 1/11/2014, excerpted): "Alice Link Whitacre was known to my brother and my older cousins as “Chickadee,” because she liked to read them a story about baby chicks when they were little. She passed away in the early 1950s and I can’t recall her (I was born in ’51), but she is remembered as being very nice and kind by my older brother and cousins, and by my mother."
