Biography

John and Hannah apparently remained in Montgomery Co., Virginia for we find a sale of land by John to Alexander Linkous in 1846 and finally a deed of land to Harriett from John H. Shell in 1889. This last item is probably the settlement of his estate. "John Shull M. Hannah Linkous 1818" P.55 German New River Settlements list of earlier marriages. Their known children: Harriet b. ~1819 (remained unmarried ) died of Typhoid 1862 William Pearisb. 1821 m. Eliza Henderson Margaret b. 1822 m. Andrew Harless Joseph D. b. ~1831 died Typhoid while in CSA Mary E. b. ~1835 m. James Shell(cousin) Catherine b. ~1837 m. Isaac Nunley Levinia b. ~1838 m. Harman Keister(cousin) Christian b. ~1850 (died young)[1850 census only] Two children born between Margaret and Jospeph: John(b. ~1828) and Essie(b. ~1830) died young[Runkel]
